In 2000, The Dubai Technology E-Commerce & Media Freezone (TECOM) was established. This cluster for IT and Creative Media companies offers a regional base for companies involved in IT, E-commerce and Creative Media. A broad range of business opportunities exist within TECOM viz. IT/Telecom suppliers, software development, IT services, Broadcast/ Satellite/ recording equipment and training companies. TECOM has licensed a total of 650 companies since 2000 and is home to Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Ideas Oasis and Dubai Knowledge Village.
