Dominated by the Middle Easts highest concentration of iconic skyscrapers, Central Dubai is spread around Sheikh Zayed Road, which has replaced Deira and Bur Dubai as Dubai's 21st century CBD.

The iconic Palm Jumeirah and The World lie off the coast of Central Dubai and the planned Universe will also be part of this area. Additionally, the Burj Dubai, Dubai Marina, Emirates Hills, the Business Bay and the DIFC are amongst some of the most desirable addresses in Dubai. The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Gardens, Mayedan and Jumeirah Gardens City projects, which are sill in the planning stages, intend to bridge the gap between Old and New Dubai.

The Dubai Metro's Red Line, which opens in September 2009 runs the length of Sheikh Zayed Road is expected to greatly alleviate the chronic traffic congestion in this area.
