Now often referred to as Old Dubai, this area consists of very densely populated areas and Dubai's traditional CBDs of Deira and Bur Dubai. This area is dominated by Dubai Creek, around which Dubai has rapidly grown. Offshore developments, off the coast of East Dubai includes the mammoth Palm Deira, the redevelopment of Mina Rashid and Dubai Maritime City.
Further inland lie established neighbourhoods such as Mirdiff and Rashidiya. Due to the creation of large master development projects such as the International City, the Lagoons, the Culture Village and Warsan Estates, the southern half of East Dubai is witnessing a surge in the prices and demand for units.
Dubai International Airport is also located here and the area will be heavily served by the Dubai Metro's Red and Green Lines and the planned Black and Orange Lines.
