Dominated by the three billion square foot Dubailand, South Dubai is still completely under development.

Dubailand alone will be home to 45 mega projects, all of which intend to help Dubai position itself as the region's leading tourism and leisure destination. Vast master planned communities within Dubailand such as Dubai Sports City, the City of Arabia, Bawadi, The Villa, Marjan, Arjan, The Tiger Woods - Dubai and Liwan area all adding to the allure of this area. Additionally, the Dubai Silicon Oasis and the Academic City are also located in this region and are amongst Dubai's first inland developments.

The Dubai Metro's Blue and Purple Lines are expected to extensively serve this region, along with several internal monorail projects within Dubailand.
